ELIWA FOUNDATION

Caring for womens hygiene

OUR MISSION

WHAT DO WE CARE FOR?

Eliwa Foundation is a Belgian initiative in cooperatation with organizations in Kenya. After visiting Kenya several times over the years, we have started an organization for the benefit of the personal hygiene of young girls and everything related to it.

With the help of donations we try to supply as many girls as possible with sanitary hygiene, by donating washable sanitary towels.

We strongly believe that menstrual health and proper hygiene is a basic right and need.

SHEPHERD JUNIOR SCHOOL

SHEPHERD JUNIOR SCHOOL

WHERE IT ALL STARTED

Shepherd Junior School started in 2005 as a small school in the rural area of Kisii, it was found by Irene Barasa and she has been managing it untill she passed away in february 2021. Now the school is managing with the help of her daughter Christabel Nyagaka.

It started with 88 students and 27 orphans. It had 8 classes from grade 1-8 with few numbers of students who came from unprivileged families. They were unable to access education.

The idea for the foundation started at Junior Shepherd school when I visited the school several years ago. We appreciate visiting our website and looking further into the purpose of our foundation.

Kind regards,

OUR PROJECTS

The donations of our sanitary pads are carefully donated to different selected schools and organisations. As a foundation we make sure the pads end up directly to the girls so that no sales or business arises from them.

Here you see some of our schools/organisations we allready cooperated with:

  • Lewa Children's home

  • Junior Shepherd school

  • Sosiani Secundary school

  • Women Students Welfare association of MOI university

  • ...

"Our main focus is preserving sanitary towels for young school-going girls. For them it's the most difficult to reach these resources."

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

LET'S JOIN HANDS TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

The goal of this organization is to provide young girls in small communities and schools with washable sanitary pads. With your help we try to reach 1000 girls a year with a set of five pads.

The pads are carefully produced by local families, with sewing machines supplied by Eliwa.

The donation is organized in the local schools, with presence of the whole class group. In this way we try to make menstruation more communicable. When the sanitary pads are given, the children get more information about the use of these pads and how to deal with sanitary hygiene.
